Press Release: Life Science Group shortlisted as a finalist for the Medilink Midlands Business Awards 2022

LSG has been recognised in the ‘Partnership between Academia and Business’ category of the Medilink Midlands Business Awards 2022 to be held at the Nottingham Crowne Plaza on Thursday 27th January. The award goes to the company who demonstrates how their collaboration / partnership has or will enhance current service delivery or create new ways of delivering healthcare.

For this award, LSG and Coventry University (Centre of Sport, Exercise and Life Sciences) worked together on a highly successful three-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project (Awarded the highest grade of “Outstanding” by the Grading Panel for its achievement in meeting KTP’s objectives).

The joint project involved developing a novel cell medium product (CellShip®), to allow the transportation of cells at ambient temperatures instead of the more traditional shipment using expensive cryopreservation techniques such as dry ice and liquid nitrogen.

Jenny Murray, Managing Director, Life Science Group Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for this prestigious Medilink Midlands award and extremely thankful to Coventry University for their valuable contribution which will produce benefits to the Life Science Industry as a whole, and for our company and the university through shared learning.”

Jenny continued “The environmental impacts of transporting cells globally, without the need for cryopreservation and transport are enormous. Reducing the cold-chain costs of delivering personalised medicine will allow this field to develop with controlled delivery, this output will have an enormous impact on the availability of Cell and Gene Therapies worldwide.”
