UK Summit to tackle In-Vitro Diagnostic barriers

There are only 4 weeks to go until the first UK Diagnostics Summit takes place at the Wellcome Collection, London. The Summit will address the key challenges facing In-Vitro Diagnostic take up and usage within the UK. Subjects to be discussed on the day include:

• How to fund In-Vitro Diagnostics in community care
• Building a business case for In-Vitro Diagnostics
• What evidence exists to make the case for In-Vitro Diagnostics
• How diagnostics are preventing illness and disease

Speakers on the day include:

Dr Tony Newman-Sanders, Clinical Director, Diagnostic Imaging, NHS England
Dr Vicki Chalker,Head, Respiratory and Vaccine Preventable Bacteria Reference Unit, National Infection Service, Public Health England

Speaking about the Summit, Conference Director, Scott Buckler said:

" This Summit aims to tackle the key questions many health professionals and industry are asking including why are we not seeing In-Vitro Diagnostics used more often. It is no secret that the evidence for In-Vitro Diagnostics exists, yet progress to implement has been slow and in some case non-existent!"

"We wanted to gather those leading the research, development and policy around In-Vitro Diagnostics together to answer these questions. We also want to harness collaboration and bring both industry and healthcare together to ensure we can build a preventative society reducing impact on our NHS."
