Autumn Statement 2016: BIVDA’s Response

Commenting on the 2016 Autumn Statement, BIVDA’s Chief Executive Doris-Ann Williams MBE said:

“As the UK looks to establish its new place in the world following the outcome of the EU Referendum, we welcome the Government’s commitment to investment in research and development.

“This announcement sends a strong message that the UK takes its role as a leader in the life sciences seriously, and serves as a reminder that we are very much ‘open for business’.

“However, it’s important that along with an emphasis on R&D, attention is given to how we can increase the adoption of existing diagnostics across the NHS. We look forward to working with the Government over the coming months to ensure that this is a focus of the forthcoming industrial strategy and featured in the implementation of the Accelerated Access Review”.
