MedTech Week: showcasing life-changing technologies across Europe

London, 04 June 2018 – For the fourth year running, MedTech Week is bringing together medtech companies and national associations to showcase the positive role of medical technology in healthcare. From 04 to 08 June, multiple activities are taking place across Europe to promote the value of life-changing technologies.

Doris-Ann Williams, Chief Executive of leading national IVD industry association, BIVDA, states that the MedTech Week is an opportunity to increase visibility of medical technologies and how they improve, extend and transform people’s lives:

“The MedTech industry is the most innovative in Europe, yet patients and even referring physicians are not always aware of the latest diagnostics and procedures.

“We hope that the MedTech Week will help show our commitment to supporting people in need from diagnosis to cure. As an industry, we unite our efforts to provide the most innovative technologies to help people, ease the work of healthcare professionals and improve conditions in hospitals and at home.”

Although little-known, the European MedTech industry is a major employer with 675,000 employees and contributes €17.5 billion to the European economy. The industry is also responsible for high levels of innovation for patients, with more patent applications filed per year than any other industry sector.
